Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki has released a “special message of thanks and inspiration” as the Shenmue 3 Kickstarter heads into its final hours.
With 15 hours remaining the project stands just shy of $5.5 million, and tantalisingly close to setting a new video game record on the funding platform.
If $5.6 is reached the game will set a new record in the video games category, overtaking Bloodstained.
The project will, however, need to reach $6 million if fans want to see an advanced battle system implemented.
Ys Net is due to host a final hours Twitch broadcast featuring Yu Suzuki alongside Shenmue 3 project members such as Hiroaki Takeuchi and main character designer Kenji Miyawaki tonight at 12am BST.
