The 2019 Yogscast Jingle Jam is well underway and has already cleared $1 million in purchases after only a single day. The month-long event is now in its ninth year, and has raised nearly $15 million since its inception, all of which has gone towards charity.
Yogscast is no stranger to the gaming scene and consist of a group of content creators that create video game-related content and a popular podcast of the same name. They have several popular videos on World of Warcraft, the Borderlands series, Minecraft, and more.
As has become routine by now, and hopefully will continue for years to come, a one-time donation of $30 will give users access to many games, most of which are DRM free, through the Humble Bundle website. Currently only a handful of titles have been revealed, and each day another will be showcased and added to the bundle. The donation plays off Humble Bundle’s existing formula, which allows users to pay whatever amount they want and consider fair to access content. In this case the amount has been preset, which is often seen when 100% of the proceeds go towards charity.
Although the titles will only be revealed one day at a time, the bundle of games is valued at $708 when calculating each title at its normal price. This can be a bit misleading since many of these games are often heavily discounted on Steam during their many sales throughout the year, though it is would not likely to ever to acquire everything in the bundle for the price of $30, so the value is certainly present for the prudent consumer.
When making the donation, one can choose from the following list of organizations:
- The Grand Appeal Stand Up To Cancer Mental Health Foundation Whale and Dolphin Conservation War Child Special Effect Call of Duty Endowment Access Sport JDRF - Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
As the video above states, the Yogscast Jingle Jam will can be viewed on Twitch, and the first week’s schedule of streaming events can be seen below consisting of gameplay streaming and holiday related activities.
The entire purpose of the yearly humble bundle is to focus on charity, but for those who also want to maximize the content they receive for their purchases, it is best to act sooner rather than later. Some games a have limited number of Steam keys to include in the bundle, such as Bastion, which at the time of writing had slightly less than 52,000 keys remaining.
