August is coming to an end and Xbox is ready to introduce September’s new games being delivered as part of Xbox Games With Gold. As is routine, Xbox will be gifting two Xbox One games and two Xbox 360 games to Xbox Gold subscribers in September, beginning of the 1st. Headlining September’s free games will be Hitman: The Complete First Season, the 2016 stealth-action game and its six unique episodic DLC releases.
Paired with Hitman: The Complete First Season will be the indie title from Total Mayhem Games, We Were Here. We Were Here is a two-player puzzle-adventure game that requires players to use microphones to communicate with each other. Roam the halls and rooms of a secluded, empty castle where the only way to survive is with the help of a friend on the other end of a walkie-talkie.
On Xbox 360 comes two great games with backward compatibility support on Xbox One. The first, Earth Defense Force 2025, tasks players to defend humanity from increasingly bizarre and alien waves of an invasion force. With hundreds of weapons at their disposal, players will truly become Earth Defense Force 2025. The second Xbox 360 title is Tekken Tag Tournament 2, the sequel to one of the most beloved fighting games ever made.
Xbox One titles will be available to pick up for a full 30 days, while Xbox 360 titles will only be available for 15 days. Players can pick up Hitman and Earth Defense Force 2025 starting September 1. We Were Here and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be available starting September 16. Each of the games will be freely available to download for subscribers to either Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Xbox Gold subscribers should be well-pleased with the titles offered as part of September’s free games. Hitman’s a very popular title which isn’t particularly old, and its packed full of content that should keep players busy for as long as they choose. The rest of the game line-up is diverse and fun. There’s a fighting game, a co-op puzzle game, and an action-shooter. For just four titles, it’s an impressive set of games.
Don’t forget to pick up August’s remaining free Games With Gold before they expire. Gears of War 4 will be available through August 31, Forza Motorsport 6 through September 15, and Castlevania Lords of Shadow through August 31. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
