Xbox 360 backwards compatibility is coming to Xbox One, Microsoft has announced.
The service will launch with over 100 backwards-compatible titles this holiday, with “hundreds more” to be added in the months to come. Both digital and disc-based Xbox 360 titles will work on the console, with digital titles showing up automatically in your Xbox One game library.
To play disc-based games, you need to insert the disc into your Xbox One and – by the sounds of it – download a digital copy.
A list of games compatible with the service has yet to be formally announced, but initial titles appear to include Mass Effect, Halo Reach, Perfect Dark Zero, Alan Wake and more. Backwards compatibility will be available at no additional cost.
Xbox One preview members are able to preview the service today, with the functionality due to roll out to all other users this holiday.
