UPDATE: Microsoft has told VideoGamer.com that today’s price cut is not an official price drop but a “UK-only retail promotion”. The official RRP apparently remains at £349.99.
“This is a UK-only retail promotion and offers great value for fans looking to buy an Xbox One ahead of the launch of 2015’s highly-anticipated games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Batman: Arkham Knight, along with Xbox exclusives such as Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza Motorsport 6 and Halo 5: Guardians,” a Microsoft spokesperson said.
ORIGINAL STORY: Xbox One has had another price cut in the UK, with the console now available from £299.99. The console was previously available for £329.99.
The £30 price drop follows shortly after retailers dropped the price of Xbox One as low as £239.99 earlier this month. It also marks a 30 percent drop from the console’s £429.99 launch price back in November 2013. The £299.99 models do not include a Kinect sensor, however, which came included with all launch units.
PS4, meanwhile, has retained its official £349.99 RRP.
Stats revealed by GAME last month showed that the average selling price of an Xbox One console bundle had fallen from £454 to £316 between January 2014 and March 2015. And with the console’s new lower price, expect that figure to fall even further.
