Xbox One users will be able to stream Xbox One games directly to VR headset Oculus Rift when it launches early next year, Microsoft has announced.
The functionality doesn’t mean that existing Xbox One games will be transformed into native VR experiences, however. Instead, the tech simply projects a video feed of the game onto a virtual reality cinema screen within a virtual room. You can take a look at how it works in the video below.
The partnership between Microsoft and Oculus will also see a wireless Xbox One controller thrown in with every Oculus Rift.
What isn’t yet clear, however, is whether Microsoft has plans to adopt Oculus Rift as an official VR headset for Xbox One. If it does, expect to hear more at E3 next week.
Oculus Rift launches in early 2016.
