Xbox One hasn’t had many wins over PS4, but when it does Microsoft makes sure we know about it. According to NPD sales data seen by Microsoft, the Xbox One was the best-selling console in the US during July, a feat last achieved after the release of Halo 5 in October 2015.
Microsoft said it is “honoured that Xbox One was the best-selling console in the U.S,” noting that the hours spent on Xbox worldwide was up 18 per cent compared to July 2015.
Xbox One’s US success came ahead of the Xbox One S launch, but did coincide with price cuts for the original model console.
Microsoft will be hoping to keep the momentum rolling into the holiday season thanks to the cheaper 500GB and 1TB Xbox One S models, but may face competition from the rumoured PS4 Neo, expected to be announced on September 7.
