Developer Insomniac Games has a number of well-respected exclusive titles under its belt, including the fast-selling Marvel’s Spider-Man, the dormant Ratchet & Clank franchise, and 2014’s Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive. Further, some Insomniac and Sunset Overdrive fans believe that the Xbox One title will be hitting the PlayStation 4 at some point.
Before Sony had purchased the developer, Insomniac Games’ last big title on a Microsoft platform was the aforementioned Sunset Overdrive. At the time, it was considered one of the Xbox One’s killer apps, though little has been heard on the game or the franchise since beyond its 2018 PC port.
However, Insomniac Games referenced the Sony-owned Sunset Overdrive in a tweet featuring a screenshot of a Sunset Overdrive enemy. The tweet can be seen below.
Insomniac Games captions the picture with a comment on the sick-looking nature of the monster. While the tweet could be an innocent reference to Sunset Overdrive, some are under the belief that this could either be hinting at a Sunset Overdrive sequel. Alternatively, given that Sony now owns the property, others believe that Insomniac Games may be bringing Sunset Overdrive to the PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5.
In the tweet thread, some users made their voices heard on the topic. Some users, like Frankstery2K, believe that a Sunset Overdrive 2 is on the way soon.
Meanwhile, other Twitter users, like VotterbinArt, are hoping for a Sunset Overdrive port to the PlayStation 4. The user is also optimistic about a PlayStation 5 port.
The majority of the remainder of the tweet thread consists of similar tweets, although some mentioned that the tweet may be related to Resistance or Ratchet & Clank. However, the tweet is almost assuredly a reference to Sunset Overdrive.
If the comments are any indication, many are in support of more Sunset Overdrive content. This is sensible since it was one of the Xbox One’s early hits. Further, it stands as one of Insomniac’s top ten games, according to aggregate review website Metacritic. Given rumors that the PlayStation 5 might be revealed next month, Sunset Overdrive-related content may be announced at the same time if fans’ hopes and theories are correct.
Sunset Overdrive is currently available on Xbox One and PC.
