UK retailer Simply Games has cut the price of Xbox One to £239.99 – one of the lowest prices yet seen for the console.

The promotion knocks almost £90 off the hardware’s usual £329.99 selling price, and marks the latest in a string of price cuts for the hardware.

Some Xbox Live members, meanwhile, have reported receiving emails from Microsoft offering them the chance to “upgrade” to an Xbox One console with Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Evolve, an extra controller and a Play & Charge Kit for just £249.99.

It isn’t yet clear how many people have been chosen to take part in the promotion or how they’ve been selected by Microsoft.

Last week it was revealed that the average selling price of Xbox One had fallen by £138 between January 2014 and March 2015.

Xbox One initially cost £429.99 when it launched in November 2013. The new SKUs, however, do not include a Kinect sensor which came bundled in with the launch models.
