The New Xbox One Experience update is available to download now – but Xbox 360 games won’t be made backwards compatible until 8pm GMT tonight, according to an update from Microsoft.
In a blog posted on Major Nelson’s website, Microsoft explained that “regardless of when you receive the New Xbox One Experience system update, the Xbox One Backward Compatibility feature will begin rolling out starting at 3:01pm/12:01 PM (noon) PT on November 12th.”
That’s 8:01pm in the UK.
“To start playing your Xbox 360 games on Xbox One after this time, refresh your Game Collection to see your pre-purchased, digital Xbox 360 titles from the Backward Compatible title list in your ready to install queue,” Microsoft continued, “or simply insert the disc for a supported Xbox 360 title and download the game to start playing it on Xbox One.”
104 Xbox 360 games are due to support backwards compatibility at launch, including Fallout 3, Fable 2, Mirror’s Edge and South Park: The Stick of Truth. The majority of the line-up, however, are Xbox Live Arcade titles.
Games coming to the service in the future include Call of Duty: Black Ops, BioShock Infinite and Halo Reach.
The New Xbox One Experience update launches on Xbox One today, introducing a new, faster dashboard and support for Avatars. It isn’t without its issues, however, and some users may find themselves running into problems when restarting their console or signing in to Xbox Live.
