October is almost upon us, and that means that a new batch of Xbox Live free Games with Gold games are almost here as well. Microsoft has now revealed the four free games that Xbox Live Gold subscribers can look forward to in October, once again providing two free games for Xbox One owners and two for those still gaming on Xbox 360 (though still playable on Xbox One thanks to the Xbox One backward compatibility program).
Starting on October 1 and until October 31, Xbox One owners can download Tembo the Badass Elephant for free. For the uninitiated, Tembo the Badass Elephant is a platformer from Game Freak, the studio best known for the Pokemon franchise. Then on October 16 and until November 15, Xbox One owners can download the asymmetric multiplayer horror game Friday the 13th: The Game, which should be fitting for the Halloween season.
Xbox 360 users, meanwhile, can download Bolt (based on the Disney film of the same name) beginning October 1 and until October 15. Then from October 16 to October 31, Xbox 360 owners can download Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, which is an enhanced version of the original Ninja Gaiden 3 and comes with all of that game’s post-launch DLC along with some other features. According to Xbox, the new Games with Gold lineup will give players 4000 Gamerscore to unlock and a $74+ value.
Arguably the most exciting game featured in the Games with Gold lineup is Friday the 13th: The Game. It being a multiplayer game means that the community will likely get a shot in the arm from its free Games with Gold status, and that combined with the upcoming Halloween season should make ensure that its online multiplayer servers are plenty populated. The game didn’t release to the most-stellar review scores, but has its own following of dedicated fans and it can be fun playing as both Jason Voorhees and the ill-fated camp counselors.
In the meantime, Xbox Live Gold subscribers still have some time to download the free Games with Gold for September 2019. That lineup includes Hitman and Tekken Tag Tournament 2, but time is running out for players to claim those free games.
