World of Warcraft Classic’s launch has been obscenely successful, with server queues reaching thousands of players and Twitch viewership crossing a million. And while the queues may be nostalgic to World of Warcraft players who fondly recall 2004, Blizzard’s ready to move on. Xbox has announced the return of the Xbox Design Lab, allowing players to order customised controllers complete with optional engravings. The program originally launched for the Xbox One during E3 2016 and allowed players to create their own controller designs. However, the service was put on hold back in October of last year to prepare for the launch of the Xbox Series X|S console. Through the special website, users are able to pick from a range of 18 colour options for each part of the controller such as the sticks, bumpers and even the face buttons....

Director Travis Knight (Kubo And The Two Strings) looks set to reinvigorate the Transformers franchise with his ’80s-set prequel/spin-off, Bumblebee. Windows 10 users will not be able to record footage of this week’s The Division beta using an external capture card, Ubisoft has warned. The issue affects players using an Elgato Gaming HD60, Atomos Assassin, Atomos Shogun “and potentially more”, the publisher says, and results in the user experiencing a “corrupted video signal” when running the game through a capturing device. The issue does not appear to be a deliberate attempt to eliminate footage of the beta, however....

UPDATE 11/1/23: As previously leaked, Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox Developer_Direct announcement showcase will be broadcast later this month on 25th January at 8pm UK time. Today’s official confirmation largely firms up what we knew already: The Elder Scrolls Online (its major Chapter update and another new feature), Forza Motorsport (including gameplay footage), Minecraft Legends (a look at its PVP multiplayer) and Redfall (single and multiplayer gameplay) will be shown. As expected, there will be no Starfield here....

Xbox One hasn’t had many wins over PS4, but when it does Microsoft makes sure we know about it. According to NPD sales data seen by Microsoft, the Xbox One was the best-selling console in the US during July, a feat last achieved after the release of Halo 5 in October 2015. Microsoft said it is “honoured that Xbox One was the best-selling console in the U.S,” noting that the hours spent on Xbox worldwide was up 18 per cent compared to July 2015....

Microsoft has said it is unlikely to restore the Xbox’s “Snap” ability in a future update. That’s according to Xbox engineering lead Eden Marie, who noted on Twitter that: “While we all miss snap, I don’t think it’s coming back.” Snap was a key feature - and one of the few selling points - of the Xbox One at its launch. Xbox has announced that it will be introducing a couple of new very useful accessiblity options in its next dashboard update: Party Chat Speech Transcription and Synthesis. As detailed over on the Xbox blog, the system already has the capability of transcribing in-game speech to text and reading it allowed like a screen reader, this functionality will now also be available in Party Chats with the next update, allowing words spoken in Parties to be written on screen on a handy adjustable overlay that can be placed wherever is comfortable for you during gameplay when enabled....

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has been out for a week now, so Nintendo went ahead and dropped a brand-new trailer on YouTube for the extensive Monolith Soft RPG that focuses on the many high review scores the game received last week.
