5 Live Studios and Deep Silver have revealed Windbound, a open-world survival and sailing RPG coming to PC and consoles this year (via Twinfinite). Our hero, Kara, wakes up on the Forbidden Islands after a storm wrecks her ship. There’s a little of Breath of the Wild here, mixed with Sea of Thieves, and a sprinkling of Dauntless. The uncharted islands are teeming with wildlife and hide mysteries to discover, and the player will need to hunt, gather, and craft to survive....

There’s something innately satisfying about setting a course on open waters while keeping an eye out for land on the horizon. Windbound, a survival game with an awful lot of sailing, is aiming to give players all of that and more when it releases later this month. I got to take a peek at part of the game and am already fairly fond of what I’ve seen. No hand-holding Much like many other survival games, Windbound isn’t interested in telling you exactly what you’re supposed to be doing....

Update: As per a recent announcement in Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem‘s Discord channel, the servers are being progressively reactivated. Characters have been restored to a version prior to the latest hotfix. The new version (1.0.3.0) will also fix Magic Find issues and more hotfixes are planned within the week. WWE 2K20 is set to launch next month, and like previous WWE 2K games, it will feature a 2K Showcase mode. Instead of just focusing on the career of a single superstar this time around, though, the WWE 2K20 2K Showcase will instead focus on the careers of WWE’s “Four Horsewomen” - Bayley, Becky Lynch, Charlotte, and Sasha Banks. And now 2K Sports has revealed all of the matches that WWE 2K20 players will go through in this year’s 2K Showcase mode....

Speaking to Giant Bomb at E3, Xbox head Phil Spencer responded to Sony’s comments about not getting involved in the Minecraft cross-play party that was announced during Microsoft’s E3 2017 media briefing. Spencer said that he would love for players across every platform to be connected, and while remaining cool-headed, seemed to to take umbrage with Sony exec Jim Ryan’s comments on the safety of Minecraft players. ‘The fact that somebody would make an assertion that somehow we’re not keeping Minecraft players safe … I found, not only from a Microsoft perspective but an industry perspective, I don’t know why that has to become the dialogue,’ Spencer stated....

Xbox One has received another price cut in the US, with prices now starting from $249.99 for a 500GB console. The new lower price follows just one month after the console was cut to $279.99, but does not appear to be permanent, with Microsoft stating that it will only be available “for a limited time”. The reduction comes ahead of the release of the Xbox One S, the new slimline Xbox One console that launches next Tuesday, August 2....

Blizzard has launched a new Recruit-a-friend program for World of Warcraft, and players are feeling nothing but frustration for the way in which things are being rolled out. The program has been in place since 2008, and at its core has provided rewards and perks for both the recruiting and recruited player....

Xbox has revealed the full catalogue of Xbox games playable via Android mobile as Xbox Game Pass Ultimate releases on Android from tomorrow including Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Cloud Gaming. Originally released in a more limited beta last year and formerly known as Project xCloud, Cloud Gaming also means that potential players don’t even need an Xbox console to take advantage and can sign up for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate service and play any of the 100 games using purely an Android device (and a supported controller) by downloading the Xbox Game Pass app on the Google Play Store or the Samsung Galaxy store....

Fans of The Legend of Heroes series will be pleased to know that Xseed Games has completed localizing The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. The Legend of Heroes RPG series has been around for quite some time, with it’s origins going all the way back to 1989, when it was part of the Dragon Slayer series. Trails in the Sky was originally released exclusively in Japan on the PC in 2004, then made its way to the PSP in 2006, but it wasn’t until 2010 when Xseed Games announced that they would be localizing the game for release in North America....

Sega has quietly revealed the release date for the PC version of gangster-smashing remake, Yakuza Kiwami. The date comes not from a boring press release however, but rather, via an animated gif that has cropped up on Yakuza Kiwami’s Steam page. It depicts eyepatch-wearing nutter Goro Majima emerging from a manhole, and for a single frame, it’s possible to make out ‘February 19’ date. Sega has been using some pretty unconventional means to tease its projects in the past few weeks, so this one definitely fits the bill....
