Xbox has formally announced the full details of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S launch, confirming that both consoles will release on the same day: November 10. In the announcement on Xbox Wire, the company detailed that the Xbox Series X will cost £449 in the UK and $499 in the US, while the smaller Xbox Series S will—as announced yesterday— launch on the same day for £249 GBP/$299 USD....
Microsoft intends to upgrade its xCloud gaming service with Xbox Series X technology starting next year according to a new report by The Verge. As the report notes, Microsoft plans to use Xbox One S consoles as server blades when the xCloud service is formally launched later this year. However, the company seemingly plans on upgrading the core technology that powers that service not long after its official debut. According to a source that The Verge says is “familiar with Microsoft’s plans,” the company has already begun experimenting with the idea of using PC server blades for streaming PC games via the xCloud service....

Those who have played 2020’s Yakuza: Like a Dragon know that the game makes a lot of nods toward the popular JRPG series Dragon Quest. Not only does the game abandon the series’ traditional beat ’em up combat in favor of a Dragon Quest-esque turn-based system, but it also features several direct references and homages to the classic franchise. The development team behind the Yakuza franchise is already beavering away on an unannounced new IP for consoles. This is in addition to the next Yakuza game, which will not feature Kazuma Kiryu after his story was wrapped up in the excellent, jaw-breaking sequel Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. To get this out of the way first, I’ve been playing Young Souls on Switch and it’s not an enormously brilliant port. This was once a timed Stadia exclusive, I gather, and while it’s entirely playable on Switch, the loading can be quite lengthy and the frame rate can be sort of jittery, which adds an element of imprecision during combat. The video game industry sits on the cusp of next generation console releases in Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X. Xbox head Phil Spencer officially revealed through Twitter that the previously codenamed Project Scarlett will have a processor capable of 8K graphics, however in an interview published today by Stevivor he said he prefers to play games with higher frame rates rather than higher resolutions. Regarding development for the Xbox Series X, Spencer said Microsoft will not be dictating what developers should focus on optimizing as he just wants them to have the tools to try things; even if he would personally focus less on increasing a game’s pixel count....

Nintendo has announced a pleasant surprise, in that it’s now releasing upcoming RPG sequel Xenoblade Chronicles 3 two months early. The company originally announced the game would be coming in September during its reveal back in February. However, Monolithsoft’s adventure will now be launching on July 29, and there’s a new trailer to celebrate.
