Hardware sales of Wii U and 3DS have declined year-on-year in the first financial quarter ended June 30, Nintendo has announced. Wii U sales are down from 470,000 in the 2015 quarter to only 220,000, whilst 3DS sales dropped from 1.01 million to 0.94 million units – despite a slight increase of system sales in Japan. Wii U is only forecast to sell 800,000 units by the end of March 2017, and is pretty much finished with the NX set to launch in March....

It’s not often that nearly 30-year-old arcade games randomly get sequels, but that’s exactly what happened with Windjammers 2. The original, made for Neo Geo arcade setups by powerhouse Data East, came out in 1994, answering the question of “what if Pong, but sports game?” Now, Dotemu has released a sequel. 2K is calling time on the poorly-received WWE 2K20, as well as WWE 2K19, and pulling their servers offline. Online functionality for both games will cease on 30th June, meaning no more access to online matches or community-made content. WWE 2K19, released in 2018, was the final game from long-time series stalwart Yuke’s. WWE 2K20, released in 2019, was the disastrous follow-up solely made by Visual Concepts, previously the series’ co-developer....
Microsoft has announced that id Software shooters Doom and Rage are now available to snap up on Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft has today announced a monumental acquisition of Activision-Blizzard in a deal worth around $70 billion, which means the publisher’s huge lineup of games is heading to Xbox Game Pass. XCOM 2 developer Firaxis Games has announced that Tactical Legacy Pack, a new DLC release for the critically acclaimed real-time strategy sequel, will launch as a free download for PC on October 9. Square Enix has revealed World of Final Fantasy’s Collector’s Edition. The fancy edition comes packaged in a special pop-up book and includes an 80-page hardback artbook, the game’s soundtrack and a set of three mini figurines – including 4-5cm versions of Cloud, Lightning and Squall. Five pieces of bonus DLC are featured, too, including a special Sephiroth summon that helps players in battle, White Chocobo, Glow Moogle and Red Bonnetberry mirages, and the game’s Japanese voiceover, allowing you to play through the whole game with Japanese voice acting....
Publisher Koch Media and developer Saber Interactive have announced that the World War Z: Aftermath expansion will launch on September 21. The expansion will take the zombie action of the campaign in all new international locations. These include the Vatican City in Rome and in the Russian peninsula of Kamchatka.
