Playtonic Games has released the first major update for its 3D platformer Yooka-Laylee, arriving on consoles a month after it came out on PC. This new update fixes many of the issues that have plagued it since launch, but it was unable to fix one issue where a trophy wasn’t awarded for completing an objective on PS4 due to ‘platform policy’. The update fixes long-standing issues such as the option to reduce those annoying ‘gibberish’ conversations, the ability to skip cutscenes and also improves the game’s performance....

So far, Obi-Wan Kenobi has been filled to the brim with Easter Eggs, name drops, and cameos that fans of the series both old and new have loved. That includes everything from referencing Jedi like Djinn Altis and Quinlan Vos or even hearing James Earl Jones returns as the voice of everyone’s favorite Sith Lord. Yuji Naka, the co-creator of Sonic the Hedgehog, has confirmed that Michael Jackson wrote music for Sonic The Hedgehog 3. Jackson’s involvement with the game has been a long-running rumour, ever since the game’s release. Today, Naka tweeted out the following: “Does Sonic Origins Sonic 3 have a different song? Oh my god, the music for Sonic 3 has changed, even though Sega Official uses Michael Jackson’s music.” Naka is referring to Sonic Origins, a new compilation of the first four games in the series....

Another major acquisition has gone through by Embracer Group, formerly known as THQ Nordic AB. Embracer Group has picked up the developer of World War Z, Saber Interactive. The cost of the acquisition is reportedly $525 million, with $150 million up-front and another $375 over three years based on performance. Saber Interactive will maintain its autonomy and has no restructuring plans. As such, both its Killing Floor 2 and Snowrunner projects’ development should continue as before....

As we all know by now Activision will now be publishing for Bungie for the next 10 years. When Brian Jarrard was interviewed by Edge he couldn’t help but speak highly of his “brothers in arms” Blizzard. A new update for Xbox Series X/S speeds up the consoles’ cold boot time by cutting the length of the startup logo animation. Five seconds are saved with the launch of a new, faster Xbox logo, which whooshes on and off your screen in around four seconds rather than nine. Yakuza 0, 2015’s prequel to the long running Yakuza series, will finally be released on the Xbox One on February 26.
