Microsoft has continued to swell Xbox One’s backwards compatibility today, adding two new games to the service (via XBA). First up is Brothers In Arms: Hell’s Highway, the World War II shooter developed by Gearbox Software released back in 2008. The game takes place during the latter stages of the conflict, specifically during Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands, and is probably best remembered for its destructive cover system and action cam....

The Xbox One has had a bumpy journey and despite a new Xbox console on the way at the end of this year, it seems the system still has a few things to offer. The February Xbox One update adds quite a bit to the console, including a clearer interface and a number of handy features. A new Xbox update has added a niche but much-requested change to the console’s dashboard: a comma in your Gamerscore total. So, if you had 200000 Gamerscore before, you have 200,000 Gamerscore now. The feature comes alongside other features recently rolled out to Xbox Insiders and which are now becoming available to everyone as part of Xbox console update 2202. Other recent tweaks include a fix for lag in the console’s guide, and the ability to set your console’s desktop background via a picture in the Edge browser....

Nintendo has scored another UK number one with Switch-exclusive Yoshi’s Crafted World, although it was a photo finish between the little green fella and Tom Clancy’s The Division 2: only 63 units separated the two games. Sharefactory update 2.0 has been released, which turns the PS4 app into more than a video editor, making it possible to create animated GIFs, photo collages and more. There’s support for PS4 Pro too. Animated GIFs Using content from your Capture Gallery or your existing Sharefactory projects, users can create looping animated GIFs up to 10 seconds long. These creations can then be shared directly to Twitter. Photo Mode Create custom photo collages with up to six photos....

It doesn’t look like The Journey game mode will be returning in FIFA 20, with EA’s next footy sim shifting the franchise’s focus onto the new Volta street football mode instead. Seeming like a successor to FIFA Street, Volta will allow gamers to create their own street soccer star that will progress through a story and tackle opponents in smaller matches around the globe. The Journey will be missed, though. This story-driven mode was first introduced in FIFA 17, with Tomiwa Edun voicing a player called Alex Hunter that joins the Premier League team of your choice at the start of a new season....

The alpha test for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight has replaced gendered language in its character creation screen. Whilst previously, the menu offered the choice of either a “male” or “female” body type, Blizzard has now removed gendered language and now simply offers the choice between “Body 1” and “Body 2”. “The new body type labels are merely text changes within the character creation screen and barber shop,” explains Wowhead (thanks, NME)....

World of Warships will receive update 0.5.1 tomorrow in the US and Friday in other territories, Wargaming has announced. Intriguingly, the announcement of a UK launch of BritBox – ITV and the BBC’s joint “Best of British archive TV” streaming service – also promised that the new service would carry some original programming. What’s the betting, then, that a BBC bigwig is already pondering, ‘Hmmmm, what if premiered the next season season of Doctor Who on BritBox? That would really ramp up subscriptions!’? Xbox is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and has announced it will be undertaking a series of special events to mark the occasion, as well as holding a virtual Fanfest later this year. As per the Xbox Wire, the original Xbox was launched on November 15, 2001 in North America, so for the next few months the company will be celebrating this milestone with the community via social media and the hashtag #Xbox20 as well as launching a range of appropriately themed merch....

British developer Rebellion has just announced that it’s bringing not one, but two more entire seasons of additional content to co-op zombie shooter Zombie Army 4: Dead War. In a development update on the studio’s official YouTube account, Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley confirmed the news, and revealed that 2 billion undead Nazis and 50 million undead Hitler clones have been slain by players since the game’s launch some six months ago – check out our review here – and though there’s still some content to come for Season One, Season Two is already well into development and will be released later this year followed by a Season Three of additional content to follow in 2021....

Even shortly after its release in January 2010, Mass Effect 2 was already being called one of the greatest RPGs of all time. The game brought in RPG and shooter fans alike into a work that expanded the Mass Effect universe and focused on telling smaller stories to a greater effect. Mass Effect was no longer a space opera, at least for the time. Today popular developer Wargaming has announced that it’s completely exiting the Russian and Belarusian markets. Wargaming, mostly known for live service games like World of Tanks and World of Warships, was founded in Minsk, Belarus, in 1998, and has always had a significant part of its business on the Russian market, but has relocated its main headquarters to Nicosia, Cyprus, in 2011. Now, in response to the war in Ukraine, they’re dropping all ties with Russia and Belarus....
