Xbox has announced that its latest console update has begun rolling out as well as the details of the changes it’ll be bringing on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles for those that download it. As detailed by Xbox Wire, the first additions are the promised toggles for Auto HDR and FPS Boost modes on backwards compatible games on the newer consoles, with the option in the game’s manage settings to choose compatibility options and select using checkboxes when they want these features enabled when playing one of the supported games....

In an interview with Edge magazine, Yakuza series executive director Toshihiro Nagoshi has revealed that Microsoft and Nintendo weren’t initially interested in Yakuza. ‘I’ve never said this before, but while we released this game with Sony, I’d done presentations about it to Microsoft and Nintendo.’ Nagoshi-san says. ‘Back then they said “No we don’t want it.” Now they say, “We want it!” (laughs) They didn’t understand the reason why I created it....

Chinese conglomerate Tencent has bought a minority stake in Yooka-Laylee developer Playtonic Games, it’s been announced. The announcement didn’t go so far as to disclose the terms of the deal. However, Playtonic say the move will allow them to scale up from a one team structure to multiple teams. The move will also, they say, allow them to improve their HQ and expand in new locations. The company will retain full creative control over its current IP too....

Square Enix has released the latest update for the PC version of Final Fantasy XV, allowing you to change the appearance of Noctis if you’re sick of his boyish good looks clogging up your screen. Tho be more specific, you are able to switch up Noctis’ face with the appearance of your Final Fantasy XV Comrades avatar, but you can’t alter his clothing or gear. In addition, the patch also allows you to share any pictures taken in locations that other players are in....

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released another trailer for its upcoming action-adventure game Middle-earth: Shadow of War. Campaign That Never Forgets is a short teaser that showcases the game’s implementation of the Nemesis system. It’s also the first part of a brief but amusing live-action branching quest dictated by the players actions. The Campaign That Never Forgets trailer recreates Shadow of War’s Nemesis system in real time, and requires the viewer to choose which path the Ranger should take....

Yu-Gi-Oh is a card game that has been around for a couple of decades and withstood the test of time by remaining relatively popular to this day. As with and card game, especially the older ones, there are hundreds, if not thousands of different cards, all adding their unique flavor to the game. Microsoft and its gaming studios are getting into the spirit of Pride Month with a trove of physical and digital LGBTQIA+ themed items such as controllers, a free game, and in-game cosmetics. The company has created a new controller that anyone can get and further customize through the Xbox Design Lab. The Pride themed controller features 34 community flags interwoven, as shown above, and will be available starting on June 9....

Xbox One’s 2017 line-up will not feature a new Halo FPS or Gears of War title, with the focus being on new experiences, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has said on Twitter. “XB1 games shipping this year are different for us,” wrote Spencer, “not Halo FPS/Gears led, new experiences with different IP, will be fun year.” When Microsoft confirmed the cancellation of Scalebound earlier this month it also stated that 2017’s line-up would include Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2 and Sea of Thieves....

The latest update for Xbox One is out today, and it’s aiming to enhance the way users can personalise their dashboard and upgrades the overall experience. In celebration of the new UI change, Microsoft’s director of programming, Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb, has gone through all of the changes and features in an informative eight minute video, which details every aspect of the new Xbox One dashboard experience. Players can now personalise their Home in more ways than ever before by adding their favourite games, following friends’ activity, and even pinning their preferred apps to the Home screen....

Even though The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now over four years old, players are still finding some truly unique and creative solutions to solving shrines. One such player has proved Link can survive even the fieriest of shrines whilst in the buff, so long as he is wielding a blizzard rod.
