This large-scale RPG series has become one of Nintendo’s key pillars in the RPG space and for good reason - its robust technical underpinnings, gorgeous vistas and strong storbytelling all work in tandem to create something unforgettable and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is no exception....

Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games has announced an upcoming live stream during which they’ll talk about the company’s future. The stream will be only the second of its sort that Yacht Club Games has produced. Their last stream, which they did in August 2019, had them announcing Shovel Knight Showdown as part of the Treasure Trove collection, along with a brief mention of a partnership with developer Nitrome. The independent game studio has just finished spending seven years working on Shovel Knight, taking what started as a superb retro platformer and molding it into one of the most varied and unique pieces of independent gaming on the market....

Ahead of its release next summer, Final Fantasy 16 has received plenty of praise for its colossal Eikon battles between mythical beasts, stunning fantasy realm, and fast-paced action full of spectacular magical effects. But one major criticism has been the distinct lack of diversity in its main cast. Last week, producer Naoki Yoshida addressed the lack of diversity in an interview. It fits the “isolated nature of this realm” he said, as well as the inspiration of Medieval Europe....

The Mortuary Assistant is a new first-person horror game that is now available on PC via Steam. It comes from developer DarkStone Digital and publisher DreadXP, the latter of which known for the Dread X Collection series. A new trailer for the game can be viewed below. In The Mortuary Assistant, players will take on the role of Rebecca Owens as she begins an apprenticeship at RiverFields Mortuary. However, this is a mortuary in which the dead do not remain that way, and demonic forces may be involved....

Shenmue creator Yu Zuzuki has said that he will not be disappointed if Shenmue 3’s Kickstarter funding fails to reach his dream of $10 million. Responding to a question about the $10 million target during a Q&A over the weekend, Suzuki said: “No I won’t be [disappointed]. I am grateful that there’s another chance for a new Shenmue. I will make what I can within the budget from your money.”...

Rebellion Studios is one of the most unique studios in the industry today. In addition to last year’s Strange Brigade, the Zombie Army games, and the Sniper Elite series, the independent studio owns the rights to Judge Dredd and comic book series 2000 AD, are producing a Rogue Trooper movie directed by Duncan Jones, are getting into the board game industry with a Sniper Elite tabletop game, and more. The studio has quite an extensive, eclectic list of projects on the horizon and under its belt, and it’s all possible because they’re a truly independent studio....

The vast majority of video games based on Dragon Ball Z are fighting games, so it came as a surprise when it was announced at Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference that Bandai Namco was working on a DBZ action-RPG. The Shadowlands beta is here, and with it, the ability to test new features, such as being able to change your gender at the Barber Shop. At the moment, changing your character’s gender is a paid service – you have to buy a $15 appearance change. However, in a recent interview, executive producer John Hight spoke on the matter, saying it didn’t send “the right message”. The Barber Shop was first introduced during Wrath of the Lich King, though it was very limited back then....

Xbox has announced the latest set of games to join the Xbox Game Pass library for the last couple of weeks of February 2022. It’s arguably one of the sparser line-ups in recent months, but that’s only because the last few have been so stacked. We kick off with Mass Effect Legendary Edition making its way to the Cloud today, following its launch on the PC and Console versions of the service back in January....

Xbox and Seagate have confirmed they’re to launch two new sizes of their official Storage Expansion Cards for the Xbox Series X & S consoles. As per the Xbox Wire, the cards will now also be available in a smaller, cheaper 512GB size and a larger 2GB option for those wanting even more storage. Both options will work with both new consoles, and offer the same Velocity architecture as the console’s internal drive....

Publisher Rogue has announced that a classic racing series is to (sort-of) return in mobile form, with WipEout Rush coming to iOS and Android later this year. Developed by mobile developer Amuzo with support from Sony Interactive Entertainment, WipEout Rush has a comic book style and includes “fluid merge gameplay” for the first time. What this means is, you’ll actually play as a team manager. You’ll have to select ships, equip and upgrade them....

With The Witcher season 1 being such a hit on Netflix, fans are eagerly anticipating the dark fantasy show’s second season. The Witcher season 2 is expected to introduce more popular characters from the books, including Vesemir, who many want to see played by Mark Hamill. Chinese developer Kuro Game released a new video about its upcoming open-world action RPG Wuthering Waves. The video (which follows another providing an introduction to the game) focuses on the combat system featuring combat designer “Wolf.” The concept is “casual but deep” letting players enjoy battles with ease, but also go deeper into the combat system if they so wish. Characters have normal attacks, Resonance Skills, and a Resonance Liberation, which is their ultimate skill....

Popular YouTube network The Yogscast has announced its plans to host an E3-like showcase conference for indie development next month. Expected to run from August 9 to August 15, the Tiny Teams Festival will give various indies a platform to show off their creations. Indies can submit their games to the festival from now until July 27. There are a couple of requirements necessary to apply. Your game must have a playable build or demo and already be available on Steam....

Zombie Army 4: Dead War is getting another crossover with Valve’s Left 4 Dead series, with the L4D2 survivors making their appearance in the Return to Hell DLC. Acting as the finale of the Season 3 storyline, Return to Hell will see your squad head into the underworld itself only this time, it’s been twisted by the mind of Schweiger. You’ll have to venture in and survive the twisted hordes in order to save him from Baron Umbra....

These days, when it comes to difficult video games, Dark Souls is the benchmark. It is the one, the only, the yardstick by which all swear-inducing difficulty is measured. In this age of tutorials-amundo hand holding and easy modes, Miyazaki’s acclaimed action-RPG series refuses to pander. Souls games have no qualms about whupping your butt. The original Crash Bandicoot trilogy was no pushover itself. These games were created in the nineties, after all, a time when gaming was much less forgiving than it often is these days....

All genres eventually go the way of the battle royale, even if you don’t expect them to. We’ve seen it with Fallout, and now with the Wild West. Grit, an indie title being developed by Team GRIT, is bringing circles, weapon rarities, and all the other features of the battle royale genre into the world of cowboys. The game is not out yet, but anyone interested will be able to give it a try soon....

A new trailer for Akane and MachineGames’ Wolfenstein: Youngblood was shown at Bethesda’s E3 2019 event, emphasizing that it has a strong focus on coop gameplay. In Wolfenstein: Youngblood, BJ Blazkowicz‘s daughters Jess and Soph take up guns and armor suits to find their father in a Nazi Paris of the 1980s. With a pounding Carpenter-esque synth theme and new weapons, the game promises more of the high-speed FPS action the series has become known for, but the details of the game’s story remain to be revealed....
