Microsoft announced that the monthly console update for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One will be rolling out starting today, and brings a few new features with a search bar added to the home screen and more options in the settings menu. The October update now allows Xbox Series X|S consoles to change the volume of the television directly from the console without a TV remote. The new setting can be found within the Xbox Guide under the “Audio & music section” with buttons to change or mute the volume....
Xbox boss Phil Spencer announced that Microsoft will showcase the Xbox at E3 2020, following a statement from Sony explaining that it will not make an appearance at the event (via VGC). If you grew up playing the Atari 2600, then you might remember a game called Yars’ Revenge. Despite receiving some middling reviews upon release, this multi-directional shooter managed to become the best-selling game on its system, and many now see it as a bona fide classic. This Monday was World Mental Health Day. Because of this, I wanted to take a moment to highlight some articles on the site that explore mental health and its relationship to games. Raising awareness about the topic of mental health in general is something I am deeping passionate about, and I have lived with mental illnesses myself for some time now. Today, during its latest Nintendo Direct broadcast, the house of Mario and Zelda and Monolith Software announced Xenoblade Chronicles 3. The game will come to Nintendo Switch in September and “ties together the future of the worlds depicted in Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles 2.” You can check out the trailer below. The remake of XIII, which came out in 2020 and was hobbled with technical issues, is getting a huge update. What’s more, it’s coming from a new developer, a French studio called Tower Five. The game’s publisher, Microids, made the announcement. And also claimed that the free update will insure that players will “enjoy the game as intended.” This from a post on the game’s Steam page: “The development studio reworked the entire game from the Art Direction to the AI and added numerous technical improvements....

Sega is re-releasing their Mega Drive Mini console with a new upgraded version- some good news for retro game fans. The Sega Mega Drive Mini 2 launches on the 27th of October and includes 60 games- that’s 20 more than the first edition and includes some Sega CD titles. The price, however, has gone up by £35, bringing the cost to £105. It also comes with one less controller, but the three-button controller from the original Sega Mega Drive Mini is apparently compatible, so you’re alright if you have one of those!...
