YouTuber Spawn Wave has taken apart the Joy-Con controllers and identified a probable reason for the apparent connectivity issues with the left controller. The Joy-Con tear down reveals the right controller has a wireless antenna attached via a cable, whereas the left controller’s antenna is built into the circuit board. This in itself isn’t necessarily an issue, but the inability to move the antenna away from a metal plate could well be a big problem....

When Ys VIII launched on PC, people were not happy with the port. They were so unhappy with it, modders cooked up a SpecialK injection specifically to bring it up to modern standards. The game did receive a major overhaul a while after launch, however, which alleviated many of its issues. We were gritting our teeth for the PC release of Ys IX, as we simply didn’t know what kind of port we’d be getting....

NIS America has announced that fantasy role-playing game Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is making the jump to Nintendo Switch this summer. The game will launch on the hybrid console in the US on June 26 and in the UK on June 29. Labelled the ‘definitive’ version of the acclaimed JRPG, the Switch edition of Ys VIII packs in all the content seen in the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita versions of the game, plus a fully relocalised script....

Some of you may recall a lawsuit against Riot Games last year revolving around sexual harassment. Originally, a $10 million settlement brought it to a close. But now, a couple of agencies believe the victims are due more money. A news report from the Los Angeles Times notes that the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) is objecting to the settlement. It believes that the women may be due much more than the promised $10 million....

Today 2K Games and Visual Concepts released a new trailer of the upcoming wrestling game WWE 2K22. The trailer is brief, but we get to see four legends of WWE that will make a comeback in the game as playable characters, Chyna, Booker T, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, and Big Boss Man. Xbox, Nintendo and PlayStation have all announced a joint partnership to pledge a safer gaming environment for gaming communties across all console platforms in a statement today. Posting on the Xbox Wire, Corporate Vice President of Xbox Operations Dave McCarthy said that “All players deserve to have fantastic social gaming experiences in settings where respect and safety are mutual” and that Xbox was “aligned with both Nintendo, on behalf of the community of Nintendo Switch players, and PlayStation in our belief that protecting players online requires a multidisciplinary approach – one that combines the benefits of advanced technology, a supportive community, and skilled human oversight....

Ackk Studios has super-glued a January 17 release date to the psychedelic romp YIIK: A Postmodern RPG on Steam. WWE finds itself at the heart of an international incident. If you’ve missed the news over the last week, Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, a permanent U.S. resident who writes for the Washington Times, went into the Saudi consulate in Turkey almost two weeks ago, and he never left. According to Turkish officials, Khashoggi was murdered by a Saudi hit team and dismembered. Khashoggi has been critical of his native Saudi Arabia in his writing and reporting, especially critical of the Saudi royal family....

Looter shooter survival game XERA: Survival is heading to Steam Early Access this Friday. In the future, the machines have taken over. Or at least, that’s what happens in the fictional world of XERA: Survival. A mega-corporation called XERA creates a prototype combat robot that gains sentience and also industrial manufacturing capabilities. In a few weeks, there’s a bajillion combat robots out there all seeking the end of humanity as we know it....

In an interview with Famitsu, Yakuza developer Ryu Ga Gotoku said that it has taken a leap into the unknown with Yakuza 7: Hikari to Yami no Yukue to prove that it can do more than ‘just’ action titles (via Gematsu). Yakuza 7 has a ‘live command RPG battle’ system which is a major departure from the combat style of its previous installments. Chief producer Masayoshi Yokoyama took to Twitter to explain what the players can look forward to, as translated by Gematsu....

WHSmith will once again stock video games after GAME announced it is to open a small number of concessions within selected stores. “GAME Retail is rolling out a small number of concessions as part of an ongoing trial across WHSmith stores in 2016,” GAME told MCV. “Alongside our 300 High Street stores it means easier access to top video games, accessories and merchandise for our community of gamers nationwide.” WHSmith was a longtime stockist of video games, but withdraw from the market back in 2010....
