Xbox One users are now able to remap button inputs on all standard wireless controllers, Microsoft has announced. The feature was previously limited to those who purchased the Elite Xbox One controller. The functionality lets players customise their controller and switch button inputs to other buttons. For example, if you’d rather Y functioned as X, then you can set it to do so by customising the settings. Button remapping is compatible with both first-party wireless controllers and third-party wired controllers, and is coming to PC “at a later time”....

Microsoft has done a pretty decent job at fleshing out its Xbox One backwards compatibility lineup as of late, and it seems it was worth it too: Gamers have notched up almost one billion hours playing Xbox and Xbox 360 games on the console to date, the format holder has announced. No doubt Phil Spencer and co will feel pretty chuffed at this figure, as backwards compatibility was met with some initial scepticism from gamers upon its original announcement....

YouTube has apologized for accidentally banning ChilledCow, an account that runs popular 24/7 music live stream. The site has been trying to grow the popularity of its live streams, having paid a rumored $160 million for exclusive rights to Overwatch League, but fans feel that the ChilledCow ban is a huge step backwards for the site. Many YouTube viewers were alarmed over the weekend when ChilledCow’s “lofi hip hop radio - beats to study/relax to” was suddenly unavailable....

UPDATE 5.27pm: Wizards of the Coast has released a lengthy statement addressing the backlash over leaked revisions to its Dungeons and Dragons Open Gaming License (OGL). In its reponse, the company says it had three goals when writing its updated OGL: to “prevent the use of D&D content from being included in hateful and discriminatory products”; to clarify the OGL only applied to tabletop roleplaying content rather than the likes of “web3, blockchain games, and NFTs”; to “ensure that the OGL is for the content creator, the homebrewer, the aspiring designer, our players, and the community — not major corporations to use for their own commercial and promotional purpose....

Co-op shooter Wolfenstein: Youngblood has recieved an update that not only brings the game up to 1.07, but adds a bunch of new content for Jessie and Zofia to chew through as they blast their way through Nazis. As detailed in the game’s official patch notes, completing the end game sidequest ‘Da’at Yichud Artifacts’ will grant access to a new ‘Treasure Hunt’ sidequest, which will take you to two new locations in the game – a reservoir in Paris and a secret Nazi bunker....

Fanbyte Media and fan site Wowhead have decided not to renew their partnership with World of Warcraft guild and Esports organization Method. This follows several accusations of grooming, sexual harassment, sexual assault, and rape against one of their guild healers, MethodJosh. There are also misconduct allegations against Co-CEO Sascha Steffens. Content warning: some of these accounts, especially concerning MethodJosh’s actions, are deeply disturbing and graphic. Known for streaming and often winning popular community events such as the Race to World First — a race between Mythic Guilds to be the first to down the final boss in any given new raid — Method has been a cornerstone in the World of Warcraft community for years....

Zombie co-op shooter World War Z has gotten off to quite the start. Publisher Focus Home Interactive and developer Saber Interactive announced today that the action-packed, bug-ridden, connectivity-suffering shooter has shifted over one million copies across all platforms. Despite not launching on Steam, the PC version has done incredibly well, too. On the Epic Games Store, World War Z has sold over 250,000 units, which is nothing to scoff at....

Jonathan Hickman and the rest of the Dawn of X crew have done great work with villains since the post-House of X/Powers of X status quo emerged. Orchis somehow got better in X-Men than they were in House of X/Powers of X, while Morgan Le Fay and the Marauders in Excalibur and X-Force are great tone-setter baddies for first stories. And perhaps the neatest trick Hickman’s pulled so far is turning late stage capitalism into an antihero in X-Men #4....

Microsoft is celebrating 20 years of Xbox in Scotland with a new partnership with Gordon Nicolson Kiltmakers and Lochcarron of Scotland. The end results - Xbox’s very own tartan, which is now on a controller (although I also spotted a rather dashing pair of trews, as well). “The pattern, using the brand’s iconic colours, has been endorsed by the Scottish Tartans Authority and entered into The Scottish Register of Tartans,” Xbox shared yesterday....

The Xbox One Elite Bundle will set you back £399.99 and features a 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive, which promises to optimise system performance to get players back into the action 20 per cent faster from energy-saving mode. Yakuza Kiwami 2, a remake of the second Yakuza game released on PlayStation 2 back in 2008, will be hitting North America and Europe this summer, Sega has announced. The gangster-brawling sequel will hit western regions on August 28, meaning there’s just a nine-month gap between its Japanese counterpart and the localised version. That’s pretty impressive, considering we’re having to wait 28 months for Yakuza 6: The Song of Life after its original Japanese launch....

Long-time Yakuza series producer Daisuke Sato has revealed he’d like to work on a Sonic the Hedgehog game. The comments came during one of a series of YouTube interviews published by the Sega Europe YouTube channel celebrating their 60th anniversary questioning several key figures across the company including Mr Sato, asking him which Sega IP he’d like to take on outside of his own. Yellowstone Season 2 has saddled up for another 10-episode ride on cable’s Paramount Network. Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available to preload from Friday, October 19 at 12.00 EST, developer Rockstar Games has announced.
