Microsoft should reboot the series because of the increasing nostalgia, the franchises’ promise, and the popularity of RPGs....

Today 2K Games and Visual Concepts released a new trailer about the upcoming wrestling game WWE 2K22. The trailer introduces five wrestlers from the Women’s Division, Raquel Gonzalez, Natalya, Liv Morgan, Naomi, and Shayna Baszler. You can check the video out below. The answer is Wyrdsong (pronounced “weird song”), a new RPG teased today during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. As it was merely teased, the video didn’t reveal a whole lot. There’s a big, blue eye and a creepy warlock-looking thing. However, while the teaser left us wondering, the developer behind Wyrdsong did explain some things....
They say success has many fathers but failure is an orphan. X-Men: Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg has decided to take one for the team and adopt that orphan. In a recent interview with KCRW’s The Business, Kinberg discussed X-Men: Dark Phoenix‘s disappointing box office haul and tepid critical reception. Thus far the film has only made just over $50 million domestically and is holding down a 24% at Rotten Tomatoes, including a poor review from Den of Geek‘s own Don Kaye....
Xbox has announced the next batch of games that will be available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers over the next couple of weeks, including the Thanksgiving holiday season in the US. In a backer update posted yesterday, it was announced that Snapshot Games’ turn-based alien survival strategy title Phoenix Point will be delayed once again to December this year. Kevin Hill, developer at Snapshot, explained further: ‘While the development team is working hard, and Phoenix Point is shaping up really well, we now know we’re going to need more time to get it to meet our very high standards. Ubisoft has revealed its upcoming free-to-play shooter XDefiant has undergone a name change, dropping the Tom Clancy name. It’s been a somewhat quiet few months from the FPS following it’s reveal and initial testing period last summer. However, Ubisoft has revealed this week it’s ready to welcome some more players for a new round of testing. The studio is sending out invites for these sessions from today on PC with an interesting new wrinkle....
Bethesda is now letting you sell items through your own vending machines in Fallout 76, but doing so will also leave you liable to tax. As part of the Wild Appalachia patch released on Wednesday, players have been treated to several new features, including backpacks and novel mini-quests. The most intriguing bit of content, though, are the new vending machines. Players have been able to trade items among each other since the game launched....
A group of YouTubers is suing Google over alleged LGTBQ+ discrimination on their online video streaming platform. Discrimination against queer content is nothing new for YouTube. Mari and Stacy from Geek Remix have been complaining about YouTube’s practices for years after having their lets plays and streams demonetized for “violating community guidelines.” And they weren’t the only ones. Plenty of queer content creators have endured the same treatment from YouTube. But it looks like a few of them have finally had enough....
Monolith Soft is lending a helping hand in the development of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed to Game Informer. “Yes they are involved in this Zelda. People from Tokyo and Kyoto are working together on this. There is a team of over 100 helping work on this project, and their work has really been helpful,” he explained. Xenoblade Chronicles X directors Tetsuya Takahashi and Genki Yokota had said last year that the team at Monolith was interested in helping develop the new Zelda, having previously offered assistance on Skyward Sword....
The remake/remaster for the classic Game Boy game The Legend Of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is one of the most inventive ones we’ve ever seen. Nintendo has done more than just emulate the older game at a smooth framerate, they’ve rebuilt it from the ground up! Though, that should be expected from the company by now, considering they’ve done the same for both Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask. Fans can debate about which dimension the series works best in, but we can all agree that Link’s Awakening is beautiful....
Wolfenstein: Youngblood has had a rocky launch due to the inclusion of micro-transactions, which has brought out frustration in some players who in turn decided to harass a developer, prompting them to leave Twitter. Lead level designer Mitja Roskaric has been the target of harassment for some time now. Online harassment is not something anyone should endure, and there’s likely no connection between that individual and the decision to include microtransactions in the game....

In a move that was expected as the overwhelming outbreak of the coronavirus exponentially increases and theaters remain widely shuttered, Warner Bros. has officially delayed the release of sequel Wonder Woman 1984 from its June 5 release date in North America, shifting back to a new release date, August 14. Microsoft recently held the X019 event in London which was notably light in terms of announcements, especially with news regarding Xbox Scarlett. There were a few new first and third-party game reveals and some xCloud & Game Pass announcements, but nothing terribly exiciting....
Tetsuya Takahashi, creator of Xenoblade Chronicles, expressed an interest in developing a “smaller-scale” game that isn’t related to the RPG series (via Nintendo Life). In an interview with Vandal, he said if an opportunity presented itself to deviate from the development of Xenoblade Chronicles, he would take it. However, this is a very big “if.” Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition released in May, and it is performing exceedingly well for Monolith Software....
