Ys VIII had a pretty rough reception when it originally launched on PC. Not because of the game itself, mind you, but due to the many issues people had with the port. I was happy to find out that Ys IX, which has finally come to PC, is a much better port. The optimization isn’t great, but it has solid options and the game itself is quite excellent regardless. Anyone who didn’t like the last game should probably skip it, but it’s a must-play for series fans and both the port and the translation are more than satisfactory....

New Chucklefish-published indie game Wildfrost is card-based roguelike adventure set to arrive this winter for Nintendo Switch and PC. Announced during today’s Nintendo Indie World showcase, Wildfrost looks like a cross between Hearthstone and Slay the Spire. It’s being developed as a collaboration between Deadpan Games’ Will Lewis (maker of Steam and Switch roguelike Caveblazers) and artist Gaziter. Focus Home Interactive and Saber Interactive have unearthed a maggot-infested release date for World War Z, confirming the game will launch on April 16 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. As WWE wrestlers arrived at RAW yesterday, more information was coming out as to why so many wrestlers were stuck in Saudi Arabia over the weekend and nearly missed SmackDown on Friday. According to multiple reports, WWE is still owed hundreds of millions of dollars by the Saudi government for shows that were held last year. Without receiving payment, WWE chairman Vince McMahon reportedly made the call to pull the plug on the broadcast of Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia (part of the deal with the Saudis is that the show is shown for free in the country)....

Sega has released a playable Valkyria Chronicles 4 demo for PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One ahead of the game’s release this September. The teaser can be downloaded from today and also coincides with digital pre-orders for the tactical RPG sequel, and includes around two hours of gameplay taken from Valkyria Chronicles 4’s prologue through to the second chapter.
