For a fair few years now WRC has played second-fiddle to the DiRT franchise but this year may be different. This is because my first impressions seem to suggest Kylotonn has gone all out this time around. While previous games have been decent enough, they usually lack that particular flavor that helps differentiate a good game and a great game....
I’m sure you’re well aware that there was a Mortal Kombat 11 reveal event last night. It had celebs there and everything: Chris Eubank’s son, a lad called Squeezie (who might have a connection to Jools Holland, but I’m not sure), and future ex-Arsenal player Mesut Ozil. It was announced, during the big hoo-ha, that there’s going to be an actual celebrity in the game, too. Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion and current WWE Raw Women’s champion, Ronda Rousey, will voice MK original Sonya Blade in the upcoming fighter from NetherRealm Studios....
Xbox has outlaid some of its future plans for Xbox Game Pass, including its intention to bring “at least one new first party game” on the service every quarter. The claim came in a special presentation detailed on the Xbox Wire ahead of Xbox and Bethesda’s joint E3 conference on Sunday. In it, Xbox head Phil Spencer sat down with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella to talk about the future of gaming at the company....
Ubisoft has revealed that the protagonist in Far Cry 5 will be customisable, including their sex, ethnicity, and their looks. In Far Cry 5 you’ll play as an unnamed Deputy Sheriff sent to arrest Joseph Seed. Seed is the leader of the Project at Eden’s Gate cult, the group of misfits shown in the key art revealed earlier in the week. Joseph has three siblings he refers to as the Heralds....
Gearbox Software has seen its fair share of press this year - and not the good kind, either. With Gearbox head honcho Randy Pitchford raising tantrums on Twitter, as well as early Borderlands games getting review bombed on Steam, it’s as if Gearbox itself wants to derail Borderlands 3 before it even hits the shelves. Now, it seems, Gearbox parent company Take-Two Interactive has stepped into the ring for even more controversy by supposedly sending goons to a YouTuber’s house....
The next step in Atlanta writer and star Donald Glover’s quest for world entertainment domination was set to be an animated Deadpool series on FX. The sensibilities of the creator, network, and creator all seemed to line up perfectly and should have created a fascinating series. Particularly if that “leaked script” Glover leaked was real. FX, however, declined to move forward with the Deadpool series, cancelling it back in March despite originally giving it a series order....

Zen Studios continues to expand on its already impressive catalog of pinball tables with the release of Williams Pinball: Volume 5. Although the previous volume, Universal Monsters, only featured two tables, Zen Studios returns to its usual offering of three tables with each boasting familiar mechanics and polished presentation. Players have the option to use each table with either updates to lighting and 3D modeling added by the developer, or based on the configurations and lighting of their original releases from the 1990s....

Blizzard has posted an update about World of Warcraft: Shadowlands class changes that we can expect to see, or at least changes in the Shadowlands alpha. In the past, as the game progressed and classes were updated, new abilities were constantly added. It reached a stage where players sometimes had limited keyboard space and faced ridiculously complicated rotations. To combat this, Blizzard began pruning away at the classes and streamlining the specs....
Shunsuke Izumi, a 25 year old gamer from the Tokyo area, made a 600 mile flight to Sony’s official store in Fukuoka in order to secure a day one pre-order for the PlayStation VR after launch stock sold out locally, reports the Wall Street Journal. May retailers in Japan sold out of launch stock back in June, which forced Mr Izumi to take drastic measures, with flights costing $200. The pre-ordered system was expected to be delivered today....
WWE ran this week’s edition of SmackDown on Friday night from an empty WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. There was no crowd. No noise. Michael Cole provided commentary alongside Triple H as color commentator, as the show was produced with a skeleton crew. Paige, who was advertised for the show, missed it due to travel concerns. There were three live matches, including the return of Jeff Hardy, who beat Baron Corbin in his first match in almost one year....
Microsoft has issued a statement emphasising how its current and future line-up of Xbox consoles shape up against both the PS4 and the PS4 Pro. It seems Microsoft is feeling pretty good about the situation. “At Xbox, our goal is to put gamers at the centre of everything we do. The new hardware available now and next year was designed with that in mind to give gamers a choice in how they play,” reads the statement....
The next generation of Xbox consoles is around a year away, with Project Scarlett tentatively planned for a holiday 2020 release. X019, Xbox’s fan convention, proved to be an opportunity for reflection for both Xbox fans and Xbox’s leadership. Xbox boss Phil Spencer took on a willing role of acknowledging Xbox’s past while providing a clear and confident picture of the Xbox’s future. Spencer, always up to the challenge, had a clear message regarding Xbox learning from past mistakes....
I cannot tell you how happy I am to be playing Yakuza: Like a Dragon on PC. Yes, okay, Yakuza 6: Song of Life and Judgment are excellent games. Nonetheless, I’m delighted to be back in the land of high framerates and low loading times for this fresh new entry into the long-running crime drama/absurdist comedy series. “Fresh” barely covers it, really. A new protagonist and a new location are the bare minimum of the changes here....
Don’t go expecting wonders from The Yakuza Remastered Collection. This isn’t a Kiwami-style remake. It’s certainly not a bare-bones port — the fact that it runs at high resolutions and 60 fps is enough to avoid that one — but this is very much a remaster, not a remake, and that shows. Still, it’s a perfectly solid way to play through Yakuza 3, 4, and 5. It’s not without its issues (the primary one being that it occasionally feels so dated that the design documents may have been written on papyrus)....
The Google Stadia is set to launch in November, but today, Microsoft went for the throat of its upcoming competitor by announcing access to the beta version of Project xCloud, its own competing streaming service for games. As of October, testers in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Korea will be able to try out the service, as long as they use an Android device. The testing period will feature four games to stream, including Gears 5, Killer Instinct, Halo 5: Guardians, and Sea of Thieves....
Epic’s battle royale is quickly becoming the one-stop-shop for basically anything and everything in terms of cosmetics and crossovers. The latest event to shake up Fortnite is a partnership with Italian sportscar icon Ferrari. The Italian Stallion is about to hit showrooms around the island. Specifically, the new 850 hp 296 GTB model. Hope you have good insurance. Epic Games and Ferrari both announced the Fortnite crossover earlier today with a simple image of the Ferrari logo as it appears on the car....
