Microsoft just dropped one heck of a announcement, as it’s announced that it’s entered into an agreement to acquire ZeniMax Media, parent company of Bethesda Softworks in a deal worth $7.5 billion USD. The announcement means that Bethesda and all of its creative studios will be coming under the Xbox Game Studios umbrella, including Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks and more. It’s a monumental announcement, meaning game series like Fallout, Doom, The Elder Scrolls, Dishonored, Wolfenstein and more are now all under the Xbox umbrella —as well as upcoming titles such as Deathloop, Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI....

SCS showed off more of the upcoming Montana map expansion for American Truck Simulator earlier this week and more recently revealed that this new expansion will also bring some new vistas to the incredibly scenic Yellowstone National Park. In addition, the Montana map will also include some challenging new Special Transport routes. This has been the case with other past expansions, as well. Yellowstone was already a locale in the previous Wyoming map expansion, but the park is large enough that it extends into Montana....
Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 has managed three consecutive weeks at the top of the UK All Format Chart, despite the fact sales dipped by 53% week-on-week. That didn’t stop it from gobbling up a 30% share of the market however, which is an impressive feat considering the competition around, with FIFA 19 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 also slugging it out in the upper reaches of the chart....
Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles is a game that synthesises pure pleasantness from a well-trodden set of mechanics. From a colourful open world that’s as rounded as a pair of safety scissors, to its unique cast of animal pals, everything is thoroughly lovely. The only hint of darkness comes from an encroaching purple fog known locally as ‘murk’ and, ultimately, the reason for that murk’s existence (revealed at the narrative climax, so I’ll not spoil that)....
Konami has rolled out a playable demo of Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner Mars via the PlayStation Store today. The teaser gives you the opportunity to experience the oddball mech-combat romp in 4K resolution and on PlayStation VR, offering a chance to soak up the various enhancements the game offers over the 2003 original. That’s about all there is to it. The demo’s free, so go and grab it now (don’t forget the WipEout Omega Collection teaser while you’re at it)....
Hardcore Pokémon fans got some interesting news this week as developer Game Freak removed Creatures Inc from its website. Some believe the move to be significant because Creatures Inc makes the models for the Pokémon games. The visuals of the recently-released Pokémon Sword and Shield were one of the more widely panned aspects. As such, there are murmurs that Creatures Inc has been given the boot or merged into Nintendo for greater oversight....
Blizzard has launched the alpha test for its upcoming expansion World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. Players who wish to jump in (or jump on) can do so by opting in as a tester. The first phase of the alpha focusses on one of the four new areas, Azure Span. Naturally, the alpha introduces your ability to ride dragons. As the name implies, that is sort of the big draw here. Some players who have are taking part in the alpha test have published videos of the game in action....
Bossa Studios set out to create the world’s first community-crafted MMO back in 2017. It was a cool premise that depended on a large number of players to really get going. That game, Worlds Adrift, had a fun concept of building your own unique airship, teaming up with your buddies, and then raining destruction on the aircrafts of other players. Unfortunately, Worlds Adrift will be shutting down for good in July....
Today Microsoft provided some details about the upcoming Xbox livestream that will be broadcasted to celebrate Tokyo Game Show 2022. The livestream will happen on Tokyo Game Show’s official YouTube channel on September 15 at 6:00 pm Japan time, which translates into 11:00 am CEST, 10:00 am BST, 5:00 am EDT, and 2:00 am PDT. According to the announcement, we can expect “updates on existing titles from Xbox Game Studios and titles launching from developer partners that we hope will delight players here in Japan, across Asia and around the world....
Xbox has announced it’ll be holding an extra show this Thursday evening, entitled Xbox Games Showcase: Extended. The show will take a deeper dive on many of the titles revealed during the weekend’s Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, we’re also promised interviews with several developers of those titles. Those mentioned as taking part include Psychonauts 2 developer Double Fine, Sea of Thieves developer Rare and The Outer Worlds 2 studio Obsidian to name but a few....
While Sony and EA look like they’re skipping E3 this year again, Microsoft continues to make the convention a major event in its planning. With 2020 being the launch year of next-generation consoles, Microsoft’s focused on making E3 something “special.” That word comes from Xbox boss Phil Spencer. Spencer took the time to reply to a fan question on Twitter, something he’s known to do. In his response, Spencer couldn’t help but share his excitement about E3....
Xbox One consoles have been reduced to £199.99 on Microsoft’s Store, making them the same price as the 10-year old Xbox 360. Both consoles are currently selling for £199.99 on Microsoft’s UK Store, with the Xbox One deal offering a 500GB console with a copy of FIFA 16 and a £10 gift card for less than £200. The Xbox 360, meanwhile, which launched in November 2005, comes with a 500GB hard drive and a copy of Forza Horizon 2....
The 35th(!) Golden Joystick Awards have just taken place, being the UK’s only gaming award ceremony voted for by the public, and plenty of the big names of the year took home well deserved prizes, along with a few surprises. The biggest winner of the night was Zelda: Breath of the Wild which won the overall Ultimate Game of the Year trophy, but it wasn’t the only award it bagged, taking home Best Audio and Best Nintendo Game and the Critic’s Choice awards to boot....
