Microsoft is streamlining Discord server voice chat support on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S by ditching the feature’s convoluted mobile app requirement - a change currently going through Insider testing ahead of its public release. Discord server voice chat support launched for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in September, making it possible for users to talk with their friends directly through Discord Voice chats, wherever they may be. Unfortunately, it’s a pretty fiddly process in its current guise....

In a recent interview with Japanese outlet GNN (translated by Siliconera), Yakuza: Like a Dragon’s producer, Daisuke Sato, got to talking a bit about how fans have reacted to the announcement of the upcoming continuation of Sega’s popular series. He also explained why Yokohama was chosen as the setting for this new adventure, as well as why Dragon Quest played such a big part in designing the protagonist’s unique identity....

Blizzard Entertainment has lifted the wraps off a swanky Collector’s Edition for World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. While the expansion will be receiving a Digital Deluxe Edition alongside the bog-standard release, the Collector’s Edition features a host of additional physical content for your hard-earned cash. Chiefly, you’ll get a double-sided novella that details the perspectives of both the Alliance and Horde in the run up to the Battle of Azeroth....

Every now and then, I come across a puzzle game that’s so creative and unique that I have trouble adapting. World Splitter‘s main gimmick involves switching between two worlds. Yes, that’s been done repeatedly, but not like this. The central idea is kind of brilliant, and the game does an excellent job of keeping things fresh. However, it also boasts some horribly frustrating elements, such as one of the most useless player characters imaginable, along with wonky physics that can lead to obnoxious deaths....

The quality of the WWE 2K games could charitably be described as hit-or-miss. Some games have managed to come close to the high watermark of wrestling games like No Mercy, or WWE Smackdown Vs Raw: Here Comes The Pain, while others have been buggy, broken messes that were missing vital features from the series’ history. Well, apparently, 2K wants to try to turn this trend around, and with the news that longtime developer Yukes would be departing from the series (and possibly working on an entirely different wrestling game), they’re trying something drastically different....

So as you’ve probably heard, Disney bought itself something really nice for the holidays, and the charge has finally gone through. Like $85 billion nice. Yes, that sounds like a lot, but it’s the price tag placed on the film, television, and other miscellaneous media acquisitions the Mouse House and 21st Century Fox just uniformly agreed to in their separate shareholder votes today. While we won’t know the full effect this has on the industry—from television to the invaluable Fox Searchlight—until it actually goes through, which is still some months off with final reguatory hurdles that need to be passed, but as the DOJ signed off on the deal last month (with some caveats), it looks increasingly done....

Rocket League will receive Xbox One X next month, developer Psyonix has confirmed. Speaking in a post on the Xbox site, game director Scott Rudi revealed that the update will allow players to experience the vehicular soccer title in 4K resolution at a silky-smooth 60fps. Meanwhile supersampling is enabled, allowing for a 1920×1080 display. Rocket League’s Xbox One X support was originally due to roll out last year, but was postponed due to technical limitations....

With access to seven characters carrying machine guns, Zombie Panic is an arcade style shooter reminiscent of Cabal in an infested fantasy world. In the story mode, you will find yourself playing Momotaro and eventually encounter Dorothy from Wizard of Oz, Snow White and even Little Red Riding Hood as you try to halt the spread of amorous zombies throughout Wonderland....

In my early teens I went to see a big Magritte exhibition at the Hayward Gallery in London. It was a real blockbuster - there were segments about it on the BBC, and Magritte fever fairly shook London to its roots. I went with my older brother Paul who loved Magritte. Wargaming has announced that its quite popular free-to-play game World of Tanks is getting a single-player campaign next week, on August 22. The single-player campaign is called War Stories, with the plan being that players will be able to relive (read, ‘play’) historical battles, play through alternate histories and take part in ‘fantasy campaigns’. Players will be able to play the War Stories mode in single-player or cooperatively. Wargaming is also adding a new tank tutorial to help players get to grips with the controls and ease themselves into the game....

Xbox has announced a new Clarity Boost feature coming to Xbox Cloud Gaming on PC through Microsoft Edge browser. As per the announcement, both parties have teamed up to offer the feature. It’s uses a “set of client-side scaling improvements’ to make games look better when using Xbox Cloud Gaming on PC. Of course, you’ll have to use the Microsoft Edge browser to take advantage, but you can see the results in this image of Gears Tactics protagonist Gabe Diaz over here....

Xbox One was the best-selling console in the US for a second successive month, beating PS4 in the August sales period, Microsoft has announced. This is a notable change in momentum for Microsoft which had seen the Xbox One beaten by PS4 in each month over the prior year, except the October sales period which included the launch of Halo 5. Today Nintendo published an extensive trailer of its upcoming JRPG Xenoblade Chronicles 3. This is one of the overview trailers that Nintendo always releases before the launch of a game, showing off pretty much every relevant aspect. This includes the story, the cast of characters, the gameplay features, and pretty much everything you need to see before you grab the game off the shelves or the eShop. We’re treated to an extensive look at the combat system, various key cutscenes, how the character roles work and the ability to change class, the ability to bring a variety of “hero” characters with you, exploration features, cooking, crafting, camping, traversal, and more....
