Apart from being a great deal for gamers of all stripes, Xbox Game Pass is also a great tool for shining a light on games that didn’t get the hype they deserved. Whether they’re underrated gems or aging greats that are collecting a worrisome amount of dust, the Xbox catalog is overflowing with titles that would make fantastic inclusions. While day-one Game Pass arrivals have become almost overwhelmingly prevalent at this point in the service’s life, popping open the selection to see an old favorite is always a treat, and there’s never a better excuse to check out a game you’d been sitting on the fence for than seeing it added to the collection....

Xbox One’s £120 Elite Controller has sold out “at most retailers around the world”, Microsoft has said, with supplies expected to be limited until early December. More stock will arrive in stores each week, the company says, but warns that it may be difficult to find one until next month. The Elite Controller went on sale last week and features a swappable d-pad, customisable buttons, optional paddles and hair trigger lock switches....

The first part of the Bleach Thousand YBW anime ends on quite the cliffhanger. Not only does Uryu finally appear after learning some sort of damning secret surrounding the Quincy’s history, but he is seen standing in front of Yhwach and is greeted as an ally. If you haven’t read through this section of the series in the manga, this reveal likely left you with some huge questions. Namely, why Does Uryu join Yhwach in Bleach TYBW, and why did he betray Ichigo and his friends?...

Persona 5 is one of the finest games of this console generation and its influence was such that Masahiro Sakurai made the effort to add its protagonist into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, despite the fact that Persona 5 was exclusive to PlayStation platforms. The announcement of Joker in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate started a year’s worth of excitement over the prospect of Persona 5 coming to the Nintendo Switch. Sadly, it turns out the Phantom Thieves of Heart will be staying on Sony platforms for the time being, except when it comes to spin-off games....

It turns out we hadn’t quite seen the last of Wolverine on the big screen after Hugh Jackman’s triumphant 2017 swansong, Logan. The director of that film, James Mangold, became the executive producer on another of Jackman’s ultra-successful projects, The Greatest Showman, and it appears that a subtle nod to everyone’s favourite mutant (no arguments) has been worked into the credits, as spotted by an eagle-eyed Reddit user. Xbox Scorpio, the all singing, all dancing 6TF mega super Xbox console coming holiday 2017, will not only offer 4K gaming (that’s the promise), but will also be support the Xbox One’s Xbox 360 backwards compatibility feature. “360 Backwards compatibility will of course work on Scorpio,” Tweeted Mike Ybarra, the Director of Program Management for Xbox. The system won’t support all Xbox 360 games out of the box, but will support all the same titles which work on Xbox One....

The celebrations for the release of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are in full swing worldwide, but Japan usually brings this kind of thing to the next level, especially when it’s about brand collaborations. The collaboration between the Pokemon franchise and the popular Mister Donut chain has been running for a long time (we just got Snowman Pikachu earlier this month), and this time around we get a “Pokemon Purin Doughnut.” In case the name doesn’t ring a bell, “Purin” is the Japanese name of the ultra-cute singing Pokemon Jigglypuff....

Nintendo of Europe confirmed on its Twitter that you’ll still play as Link in The Champion’s Ballad, the upcoming story DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. There will, however, be some additional content and you’ll learn more about Zelda along the way. This info was revealed by Legend of Zelda’s producer Eiji Aonuma at this year’s Japan Expo. Clarification of the announcement coincided with the first footage from the DLC, though to be fair there isn’t much to go on....

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links, one of the many game installations of the Yu-Gi-Oh series. It is a free-to-play, digital collectible card game that was released in November 2016. While not the most popular of games, it does have some good points to it. One of them would be the different characters and skills you can play with. For those unfamiliar, Skills in the game are unique abilities depending on the character. They are used to either draw cards, gain Life Points, and more....

World of Warcraft’s subscriber number had fallen to 7.1 million as of March 31, 2015, some 3 million subs down on the 10 million figure announced back in November following the release of Warlords of Draenor. “As mentioned during our February earnings call and consistent with our experience following prior expansions, we saw a decline in World of Warcraft subscribers,” said Dennis Durkin, Activision Blizzard chief financial officer in the publisher’s overnight earnings call....

This week’s Xbox One Deals With Gold promotion includes big savings on Forza Horizon 2 and its DLC, including the Car Pass at half its regular price. You can save 20 per cent on the digital version of the game, 30 per cent on the Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Edition, and a whopping 50 per cent on the Car Pass. The Forza Horizon 2 Car Pass will cost you only £10 and provides access to six monthly pack add-ons, each featuring five cars....

Xbox Series X/S will soon be boot up more quickly, once Microsoft rolls out a new feature. Xbox engineering lead Eden Marie has said that the cold start-up time was quicker for Xbox Insider members. Soon, it will be that way for everyone. Marie tweeted: “Someone asked me about this, and I’ll admit I had no clue, but I checked, and yes, the boot animation and cold startup time in general on Xbox Series X|S consoles has been shortened in the latest Insider builds....

Sega has released an official launch trailer for the PC version of knuckle-cracking gangster drama Yakuza 0. Kazuma Kiryu’s compelling origins story was originally released on PlayStation 4 in early 2017, and takes place during the 1980s as he rubs shoulders with some of the toughest nasties of the Japanese underworld while becomoing embroiled in a brutal real estate battle. Concurrently, we’re also treated to the exploits of the slightly unhinged Goro Majima, who spends a lot of his time trying to pay back a massive debt while managing a nightclub....

Sega has officially announced Yakuza 7: Whereabouts of Light and Darkness. It was revealed as a PlayStation 4 game during a press conference at UDX Theater in Akihabara, Tokyo yesterday. It won’t star series bad boy Kazuma Kiryu, however. Instead, someone new is taking the reigns. The game will head to western markets in 2020. Hearing that another Yakuza game will grace us certainly isn’t a surprise to me. However, what is a surprise is that the game, which will be titled Yakuza: Like a Dragon in the west, includes said turn-based combat....

Yellowstone Season 2 Episode 8 Despite the fact that last week’s episode, “Resurrection Day,” ended with the apparent salvation of Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley), longtime viewers of Yellowstone should have known that everything wasn’t going to be okay. And while this week’s episode, “Behind Us Only Grey,” doesn’t necessarily do anything to utterly destroy this faulty belief, it spends a lot of time laying the groundwork for an explosive, violent and disparaging end to the show’s second season....

Final Fantasy 16 will include party members in combat, despite the fact that recent trailers have focused solely on protagonist Clive. Fans have speculated whether other characters will join battles, which producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed to IGN - although they will remain AI-controlled. “We didn’t want to overwhelm users in our newest trailer, so we focused solely on Clive’s battles. That said, for most of his journey, Clive will be accompanied by one or more companions....

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has just been released, and fans just can’t stop gushing (and crying), as the film was an emotional rollercoaster ride, serving as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, who played the lead in the franchise, T’Challa. Alongside paying tribute to the actor’s passing, the film also introduces a vital new character into the MCU, Namor. Played by Tenoch Huerta, the character serves as the main antagonist for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as he looks to defend his people, the Talocan, by any means necessary....

A little over two years ago now, the Super Mario Odyssey speedrunning community received coverage on numerous video game websites for its invention of a category called “nipple%.” Mario Odyssey introduced non-functional custom outfits to a main line Mario game for the first time, including a pair of swim trunks with no accompanying top. This led to the revelation that a shirtless Mario (in a game also confirming that Mario is apparently not human, one level taking place among real-life proportioned human beings) resembles a shirtless male—which is to say, he has nipples....

Funcom is bringing another free-to-play weekend for its hit games in the Conan series. The survival game Conan Exiles, the MMO Age of Conan, and the RTS Conan Unconquered can all be played this weekend. Starting today until September 23, players can head over to Steam and try all three games. Each game boasts a series of improvements since their original releases, and Funcom wants players to revisit the worlds they may have experienced earlier to see if it can convince a few to stay around for a while....
